Unblocking a contact in WhatsApp removes the messaging restriction you previously set. The person can then contact you again under your normal privacy and notification settings.
Only unblock someone when you are comfortable reopening communication. If the contact was blocked for harassment, fraud or an unsafe interaction, reporting and keeping the block may be the better choice.
Open Privacy and Blocked contacts, select the person and confirm Unblock; future communication can then resume.

- Select the person or business.
- Confirm Unblock.
Unblock on WhatsApp Web or desktop
Open WhatsApp settings on the linked computer, choose Privacy and find Blocked contacts. Select the contact and remove the block.
If the option is unavailable or the linked app is out of date, make the change on the primary phone and refresh the desktop app.
What changes after unblocking
Future messages and calls can be delivered again, subject to connection and privacy settings. Unblocking does not force either person to send a message, restore a deleted chat or change the contact entry in your phone's address book.
Review profile-photo, last-seen, group and call privacy before reconnecting. Those controls are separate from the block list.
If someone else blocked you
You cannot remove a block placed by another person or business. Only that account can unblock your number. Avoid third-party tools that promise to bypass the restriction.
If a business appears to have blocked you by mistake, use its official website or another published support channel. For a personal contact, respect the boundary and do not create another number to work around it.
Blocking is a privacy and safety control. Unblock only when the reason for the original block has been resolved.
